What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) is a client centered healthcare profession that addresses the needs of individuals across the life span. OT may help with cognitive , sensory, mental health, and physical deficits caused by illness or injury. The goal is to promote health and wellness using a holistic approach.
OT focuses on enhancing functional engagement in daily activities that are meaningful and purposeful to the individual. OT practitioners have a unique skill set when it comes to adapting, modifying, and developing effective strategies to maintain or achieve independence with daily routines.

“Occupational therapy practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”
-Virginia “Ginny” Stoffel
What is Aging in place?
Aging in place is a term that you probably heard of as it is used very often. As we age, things can become more difficult although, more often than not, older adults prefer to stay in their own home versus relocating. In fact, 90% of American's report that they would prefer to stay in their own home. Interventions may include but are not limited too recommendations for home modifications to ensure safety, adapt and/or modify functional tasks to increase independence, providing education/caregiver education and supportive resources.

Are things that use to be easy becoming more difficult for you?
Have you had to give up the things that you enjoy or that make you happy?
Do you provide care to a loved one who suffers from Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease? If so, would it be helpful to learn effective strategies and have outside supportive services to ease the process?
If you answered YES to any of the questions above, YOU are in the right place!

The program may address many problematic behaviors such as wandering, agitation and/or pacing but is not limited to these specific areas. Skills2Care® is also beneficial in terms of decreasing caregiver burden/stress, and promoting active engagement in functional tasks.
The program is designed to promote collaboration between the caregiver and treating therapist to identify the problem areas in order to develop and implement effective strategies to decrease and/or eliminate difficulties/problematic areas.
Skills2Care® is an intervention that can be covered as a skilled service under Medicare part B when the program is integrated into the patients plan of care.
Skills2Care® can also be provided using a consultative approach Face-to-Face, via phone call and/or telehealth with a video feature.
