What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) is a client centered healthcare profession that addresses the needs of individuals across the life span. OT may help with cognitive , sensory, mental health, and physical deficits caused by illness or injury. The goal is to promote health and wellness using a holistic approach.
OT focuses on enhancing functional engagement in daily activities that are meaningful and purposeful to the individual. OT practitioners have a unique skill set when it comes to adapting, modifying, and developing effective strategies to maintain or achieve independence with daily routines.
“Occupational therapy practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”
-Virginia “Ginny” Stoffel

In fact, 90% of American's report that they would prefer to stay in their own home. Interventions may include but are not limited too recommendations for home modifications to ensure safety, adapt and/or modify functional tasks to increase independence, providing education/caregiver education and supportive resources.

Skills2Care® can also be provided using a consultative approach Face-to-Face, via phone call and/or telehealth with a video feature.
